Common faults include Stuck on home screen and occasional/constant rebooting.
These problems are usually caused by firmware/software issues within the I-Drive unit. By reprogramming the I-Drive the unit is usually restored to fully working order.

R56 Mini Cas Module.
A Common issue we see with the R56 Mini is the No crank No start condition. This may be intermittent or a permanent condition. From past experience this is usually caused by issues with the Cas (car access system) module. A common issue is water/moisture ingress. We are able to clone the information from a damaged module into a replacement unit restoring normal operation and vehicle starting. During this process lost keys can be deleted or new keys added to the system.
A common issue following an accident and vehicle repair is the failure in being able to clear the SRS (airbag) waring light. This is usually caused by "crash data" being stored in the module in a location that standard diagnostic tools cannot access. We are able to clear this data by either OBD connection or removal and bench programming. This removes the expense of replacing the module and additional programming costs. Most makes and models covered.
Tyre pressure monitoring systems have now become standard on most vehicles, these sensors fail for numerous reasons including internal battery fault and broken stems casing failed transmission/receiver problems. We can diagnose the system properly to advise on which sensor(s) has failed and then supply a sensor pre-coded to match the system and protocol used by your vehicle. Most makes and models are covered
BMW / MINI Engine control module EDC16c35
We have seen a great quantity of these Ecu's failing due to water ingress (E60/E90 and R56) and Can bus / communication failure. We are able to clone your original data into a used engine controller allowing the module to be refitted in a plug and play state. Other BMW ECU'S covered.
VAG / Porsche Kessy security module
The "Kessy" module is found on vehicles produced by VAG group and Porsche and controls the security system. A extremely common issue due to its location is water damage which causes all kind of issues both intermittent and eventually permanent, such as non starting. We are able to clone these units as well as extracting security pin codes and adding keys. This module is common to fail on Porsche Cayenne, VW Passat ,Phaeton and Touareg and Audi a6 / A8.
Once again water is the enemy, usually caused by blocked drainage tubes water floods under the seat and enters the "rear electronics module". This causes multiple issues such as rear spoiler up, reversing lights and rear lights stuck on and the roof won’t go down plus others. At AVS we are able to help, by either repairing your module or replacing it and coding it to your vehicle.
A common issue with the R52 mini roof can be caused by broken roof cables. There are two cables left and right and either or both are regular failures. Other issues including the hydraulic pump unit and roof control module are also problems we encounter. If you have a roof issue and you need some help then please get in touch.
Mini R50,52,53 ABS problems
ABS/DSC issues are quite common the first gen mini, there are numerous failings including wheel speed sensors, wiring harness issues and the actual ABS controller itself. One issue seen with these units is the inability to access the module via diagnostics. Whatever your issue let us know and we will do our best to help.
BMW 1 series E87
Common issue with 1 series vehicles is failing PDC (park distance control) system sometimes along with erratic instrument cluster operation and numerous warning lights. This can most commonly be traced to a water ingress issue in the rear of the car. If your suffering with this issue then please get in touch.
BMW E93 Retractable Roof
The retractable roof on the E93 is a sophisticated system which once causing issues requires comprehensive diagnostics and testing in order to pin point the problem(s). There are some common faults we see including the main Hydraulic pump unit, CTM unit, various hall sensors and microswitches and wiring harness / connector issues caused by water ingress to the boor space.
Over the years we have seen a common intermittent/permanent fault with the second gen mini causing a no crank no start condition. You may also see the padlock symbol in the instrument cluster which confirms an issue with the CAS system. Whilst we do encounter issues with the CAS module itself this particular issue is regarding a wiring corrosion problem. If your suffering with such issues then give us a call and we can help get your car back up and running.
BMW E85 Z4 Soft top Roof
This is an extremely common issue unfortunately on this popular roadster. Blocked drainage outlets cause the roof pump and hydraulic assembly to be damaged resulting id roof failure. We remove the entire roof assembly and replace the faulty parts before rebuilding and refitting to the vehicle.
Volvo V50 Airbag fault CFFF
This is an extremely common problem usually caused by low/failing battery. The data contained within the module becomes corrupted and the dealer fix is to replace this expensive module.
In most cases we can reprogram the unit correcting the fault and returning the airbag system to a fully functioning state.
